ZEBULON, NC - Mother Nature brought a hault to the Carolina Mudcats' middle game with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the 11th inning on Saturday night. The teams were stalemated at 2-2 when persistent rains forced the suspension.

The clubs will resume at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 10. Gates will open for fans at 12:30 p.m. The originally scheduled game for Sunday will follow in its entirety and will not start before 2 p.m.

The Mudcats opened the scoring in the second inning when Luigi Rodriguez launched a double to the wall in straightaway center that scored James Roberts from first base. The Pelicans quickly tied the game with two out in the third when Christopher Bostick beat out a single and scored on a double to left by Preston Beck.

Jeremy Lucas began the sixth with a single and scored on a triple by Alex Monsalve. Carolina's backstop lined a shallow hit into center where Lewis Brinson made a diving attempt. The center fielder whiffed on the catch and the ball rolled to the wall while Monsalve raced around the bases.

The Pelicans managed to even the score in the eighth without a hit. Michael Peoples issued consecutive walks with one out and was lifted for Jacob Lee. The right-hander induced a grounder to third, but Christopher Bostick beat the throw to first to keep the inning alive. Lee uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Luis Mendez to score from third.

"Kids Run the Bases" presented by Amerigas will follow the originally scheduled game on Sunday afternoon, weather permitting.
