Winston-Salem-The Winston-Salem Dash completed a series sweep against the Carolina Mudcats with a 15-6 win at BB&T Ballpark Sunday afternoon. Home runs from first baseman Jerrud Sabourin and centerfielder Tyler Naquin weren’t enough to make up for the performance of the struggling Mudcats bullpen.
Right-handed Dash pitcher Chris Beck (5-6) took the win for Winston-Salem and allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings. Carolina starter right-hander Jacob Lee (0-5) pitched 4.2 innings with a season-high seven runs on eight hits.
Carolina scored first in the top of the second inning with a single from catcher Charlie Valerio with two out to send outfielder Bo Greenwell home.
The Dash answered quickly in the bottom of the second. Lee walked third baseman Rangel Ravelo, then served up a homerun to third baseman Grant Buckner to make the score 2-1. Singles from second baseman Joey DeMichele and third baseman Chris Curley allowed DeMichele to score after a sacrifice fly from catcher Kevan Smith.
Carolina began the third inning down, 3-1. A single, double and sacrifice fly in the top of the third allowed shortstop Francisco Lindor and second baseman Joe Wendle to reach home and the Mudcats to tie the game up.
A double from third baseman Jeremy Farrell started the bottom of the third inning, followed by an error by Lindor and then two singles to score Farrell and outfielder Matt Haddow.
Carolina was unable to make up the two runs in the top of the fourth and Winston-Salem stepped up to bat in the bottom of the fourth with the score 5-3.  A homerun from Smith on a fly ball to center field sent Curley home to bring the score to 7-3. Right-hander Fabio Martinez came into relieve Lee.
A scoreless fifth inning gave way to a leadoff homerun from Sabourin for Carolina in the top of the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Martinez allowed two walks and a double to outfielder Courtney Hawkins to score Curley before being relieved by right-hander Michael Goodnight. Goodnight then hit Haddow with a pitch and walked Ravelo to load the bases. Buckner hit his second home run for a grand slam to score Hawkins, outfielder Joe De Pinto and Ravelo, to make the score 13-4.
Left-hander Jarrett Casey relieved Beck in the top of the seventh inning and Naquin delivered his fourth homerun of the year to left field to make the score 13-5. Lindor and Wendle then both grounded out to put the Dash at bat against right-hander Rob Nixon, who came into the game to relieve Goodnight in the bottom of the seventh.
A fielding error, double and a single sent Curley and Smith home and brought the score to 15-5. Carolina returned to offense in the top of the eighth with the score 15-5. A double from Greenwell scored right-fielder Jordan Smith and gave the Mudcats their last offensive push of the night.
Right-hander Jeff Johnson stepped in to relieve Rob Nixon in the bottom of the eighth and was able to prevent another offensive effort from Winston-Salem, who improved their record to (29-26).
Carolina (19-36) begins a four-game series against Wilmington at Frawley Stadium Monday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
