The Carolina Mudcats ended an away series with at Wilmington with a 6-2 win against the Blue Rocks at Frawley Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

The Mudcats took the series with the win. Joseph Colon (3-3) pitched seven scoreless innings with two hits, two walks and five strikeouts. The losing pitcher was John Lamb (4-11) with seven innings pitched, two runs and three hits. 

The first five innings went by with only two hits, both of them from Wilmington. 

Carolina got on the board in the top of the sixth with singles from catcher Alex Lavisky and first baseman Jerrud Sabourin. A sacrifice bunt from third baseman Justin Toole loaded the bases and a double from left fielder Bryson Myles sent two home to give the Mudcats the lead.

Neither team got a hit after the sixth until a double from right fielder Geulin Beltre in the bottom of the eighth with two outs.

Myles was hit by a pitch to start off the ninth inning, and center fielder Jordan Smith walked and second basemanJoe Wendle grounded out to put two on base. Designated hitter Paddy Matera and right fielder Bo Greenwellwalked to score Myles.

Shortstop Erik Gonzalez tripled to bring the score to 6-0. 

The Blue Rocks offense got two runs in the bottom of the ninth on two singles and a triple from center fielder Yem Prades

Carolina finished the road trip 5-2 and improved to 21-16 in the second half and 43-64 overall. Wilmington is 16-22 this half and 49-59 overall. The Mudcats return home on August 1 for to begin a series against the Frederick Keys.
