INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis parlayed a fourteen hit attack into triumph as they beat Columbus 8-4 at Victory Field.

The Indians staked themselves to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an Alex Pressley RBI double off of the center field ball. The Clippers would then tie it at 1-1 in the bottom of the third when Juan Diaz scored on a Tim Fedroff RBI groundout to second.

It would continue to be a back and forth affair. Indy's Brock Holt knocked in a run with an RBI single to right in the bottom of the third, helping the Indians regain the lead 2-1. Columbus then answered with two runs in the top of the fourth on back-to-back RBI doubles by Juan Diaz and Luke Carlin as they took back the advantage 3-2.

It became a tied ballgame once again, this time 3-3, when Indians catcher Tony Sanchez connected for a solo shot, his eighth of the season, that went over the left center field and shattered the windshield of a parked truck near Victory Field. It then turned into another Indianapolis lead, 4-3, when Holt plated a run with an RBI single up the middle.

Indy would pull away in the later innings. They plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth on a Dallas McPherson two run homer, and an Anderson Hernandez RBI single. The Indians would also tack on another run in the bottom of the sixth on a McPherson RBI double.

The Clippers scored a run in the top of the seventh when Carlin scored on a wild pitch to make it an 8-4 affair and plated another on a Cord Phelps RBI single in the top of the ninth, but it would be Indianapolis that would come away with the victory. Chris Leroux (W, 4-0) got the win for Indy. Matt Packer (L, 0-4) was tagged with the loss for Columbus. Daniel McCutchen (3) picked up the save for the Indians.

The Clippers will head south to the Bluegrass state of Kentucky as they begin a five game, two city series with the Louisville Bats on Tuesday night. Columbus left-hander Eric Berger (2-5, 5.29) will square off against Louisville right-hander Todd Redmond (8-10, 3.45). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
