LOUISVILLE - The Columbus Clippers were able to beat the Louisville Bats on Saturday night 9-4.

Chris Seddon got the start for the Clippers, and went five and a third innings and struck out five.  He was rewarded his first win of the season.  His counterpart with the Bats, Andrew Brackman, did not have a great outing as he was unable to make it out of the first inning after giving up five runs in only two thirds of an inning.

Louisville encountered a rough first inning as Columbus was able to to put five runs on the board.  They scored their first run on a fielders choice to the pitcher hit by Lonnie Chisenhall which allowed Ezequial Carrera to score and advanced Cord Phelps to third. Chad Huffman later drove in Phelps with an RBI single, and then Ryan Spilborghs got involved in the action by knocking in Chisenhall with a groundball. After a Trevor Crowe walk, the scoring ended with a Gregorio Petit line drive double to left that scored Huffman and Crowe to make it 5-0.

The Bats put up their first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning with a home run to deep center by Todd Frazier.  Dioner Navarro hit the Bats second solo home run in the bottom of the third inning to bring the Bats within three at 5-2.

But in the top of the forth inning the Clippers continued to add on as Petit singled, advanced to second on a groundout, and then scored on a Phelps RBI ground ball single up the middle. Phelps came back with another big hit in the eighth inning with a double that scored to runs to make the score 8-3.

Phelps finished the game 4-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Seddon got the win going 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on four hits, two walks, and had five strikeouts.
