Today the Cleveland Indians announced that Triple-A Columbus pitching coach Ruben Niebla has been named interim Major League Pitching Coach and has replaced Scott Radinsky who has been dismissed from his post.

Niebla, 40, is currently in his 12th season in the Indians organization, having spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons as the pitching coach at Columbus. He also spent the 2010 season, manager Manny Acta's first year on the job, as a special assistant to the Major League coaching staff.  Five members of the current Major League staff pitched under Niebla’s tutelage for Columbus over the last two seasons.

Niebla has been a pitching coach within the Indians Player Development System since 2001.  He played professionally for six seasons from 1995-2000 in the Expos and Dodgers organizations and pitched collegiately at Azusa Pacific.
