Red Sox, Diamondbacks have interest in Cabrera
According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Boston Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks have both shown interest in Cleveland Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera.
Cabrera, 27, is under control for two more seasons and will make $6.5 million in 2013 and $10 million in 2014. Because he is under control for two more seasons at a reasonably good price for an All Star player, he is generating a lot of interest in the trade market. The Indians do not have to trade him, and would likely only trade him if they get good established Major League starting pitching or pitching prospects that ready to pitch in the big leagues.
Cafardo also lists the Indians as a strong suitor for Kevin Youkilis (no surprise). The Indians want him to play first base, while other teams are looking at him as more of a third baseman.
