EASTLAKE, OH - Nellie Rodriguez singled home Ivan Castillo in the bottom of the 11th inning and the Captains beat South Bend 5-4. The Captains won a total of 20 games at Classic Park. Of the 20 wins, eight have come via the walk-off. Lake County will go for the series win on Sunday.

Lake County scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Ivan Castillo led off with a picture perfect bunt single. Claudio Bautista followed him up with a single to put runners on first and third. Clint Frazier then bounced a double down the right field line, making the score 1-0. With runners on second and third base Nellie Rodriguez grounded out to short but Bautista scored. The score was 2-0. With two outs, Torsten Boss singled to right field and Frazier scampered home from second and the score was 3-0 Captains.

The Captains added on in the bottom of the fourth inning. Richard Stock singled and stole second base. Stock raced home on a double from Claudio Bautista and the score was 4-0. South Bend got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning. Stryker Trahan walked, and went to third base on a two-base error. With one out, Marty Herum hit a ground ball to third base and Trahan was able to touch home to make the score 4-1.

South Bend tied the ballgame in the top of the third inning. After the first two hitters reached on infield singles, Breland Almadova smacked a three-run homerun and the score was tied at 4-4. With the homerun, Mitch Brown did not get a decision.

RHP Mitch Brown (0-6) took the ball for the Captains and did not get a decision. Brown pitched six innings and allowed one hit, one unearned run, with two walks and five strikeouts. Wander Beras pitched one and two thirds innings and allowed four hits, three earned runs, two walks and three strikeouts. Beras allowed the homer to Almadova. Ben Heller pitched one and one third scoreless innings. Heller allowed one hit, one walk and struck out three. Anderson Polanco (1-0) got the win after pitching two shutout innings and fanning three.

RHP Blake Perry (5-2) started for South Bend and did not get a decision. Perry pitched five innings, and allowed seven hits, four earned runs, two walks and five strikeouts. The South Bend bullpen consisted of five pitchers on Saturday Night. The bullpen surrendered three hits and one earned run. The loss went to Bud Jeter (1-2). Jeter allowed the walk-off winner.

The Captains will conclude their four game series with South Bend on Sunday Afternoon. Lake County will send RHP Jordan Milbrath (1-8, 3.67) to the mound to face LHP Hector Hernandez (4-2, 3.52) of South Bend. First pitch is at 1:30 PM from Classic Park.

Sunday’s game is a Family Fun Sunday which will include a pre-game player autograph session, concourse entertainment and activities, as well as the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game.

The Captains Brunch will also be offered beginning at 12:30 on Sunday. Fans may purchase a Brunch Package that includes a game ticket and brunch buffet in the Owner’s Suite. The cost for the brunch is $22 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. 

The Captains Brunch will include a chef prepared omelet station, Chicken Marsala, carved ham and turkey breast, potatoes O’Brien, fruit bowl, breakfast pastries, coffee and juice.  There will be a Bloody Mary cash bar in the Captains Quarters Bar which is located on the Captains suite level. There will be a special On-Field Catch VIP Experience on Sunday prior to the game.  Fans can purchase the VIP package for $17 for an adult and $15 for a child that will include early entry into the ballpark at 11:45 AM to watch batting practice, an on-field photo, a pre-game catch on the field and an autograph session and lunch.
