Triple-A Columbus outfielder Jordan Brown extended his hitting streak to 11 games in the Clippers 5-4 loss in Louisville. Brown went 2-for-5 with a 2B and RBI and is 19-for-49 with 4 2B, HR, 7 RBI and 12 R during the run.

Right-hander Fausto Carmona made his second appearance this season with Columbus, going seven innings and giving up five runs on eight hits (2 BB, 2 K, 106/71 strikes).

Double-A Akron right-hander Carlton Smith pitched two hitless innings of relief work in Akron’s 6-3 loss to Erie. Prior to the game, Smith was added to the Eastern League All-Star team, replacing teammate right-hander pitcher Vinnie Pestano who went on the disabled list with a right elbow strain.

High-A Kinston Third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall finished yesterday’s 6-1 victory over Potomac 2-for-4 with a run. Chisenhall has now hit in 11 straight games going 13-for-41 with 5 2B, 3B, 4 RBI and 4 RS during the streak. It’s his third streak of 10 or more games this year.

Right-hander Alexander Perez made his Kinston debut last night firing six scoreless innings to get the win (6 H, 2 BB, 6 K, 78 pitches).

Short-season Single-A Mahoning Valley infielder Rafael Vera is currently on a nine-game hitting streak after going 1-for-4 in Mahoning Valley’s 8-1 win over Batavia. He’s batting .385 (15-39) with 2 2B, 4 RBI and 2 R during the nine games.
