NILES, OH - For the third straight night the Mahoning Valley Scrappers struggled to hit with runners in scoring position. For the third straight night the Scrappers pitchers struggled to get off the field with two outs. The combination for the third straight night proved to be too much as the Scrappers fell at home 4-1 to the Williamsport Crosscutters.

Williamsport took an early lead in the top half of the first inning. With one out, Jiamdido Tromp and Wilmer Oberto each singled. After a Rhys Hoskins strike out, Derek Campbell singled to score Tromp for a 1-0 lead.

The Scrappers would answer back in the bottom of the 4th inning. With two outs, Taylor Murphy singled to extend the inning. D’Vone McClure would then follow with his first triple of the season to score Murphy from firstbase to tie the game at 1.

The Crosscutters would retake the lead in the top of the 6th inning. Cord Sandberg and Tromp both singled to start the inning. Oberto would then strike out trying to bunt with two strikes on him. Hoskins would follow by flying out to left for the second out. Derek Campbell and Jose Pujols would then both connect on doubles to clear the bases and put Williamsport up by the final of 4-1.

Nick Maronde started for the Scrappers and went 4 innings. He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out 5. Anthony Vizcaya (1-6) would then go 3 innings. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits. Vizcaya did not walk a batter and struck out 1 while taking the loss. Ramon Rodriguez would go 1 perfect inning in relief. He stuck out all 3 batters.
