The Indians kept busy with their management of the 40-man roster today deciding to add left-hander R.J. Swindle off outright waivers from Tampa Bay. Swindle has been optioned to Triple-A Columbus. The 40-man roster is now at 34 players.

Swindle has split the season between AAA Nashville and Milwaukee before being designated and claimed by Tampa Bay on August 7th and then designated by them the next day August 8th. He went 3-1 with 2 saves and a 1.03 ERA in 31 relief outings for Nashville (43.2 IP, 30 H, 5 ER, 13 BB, 41 K) and in six games with the Brewers had an ERA of 16.20 (6.2 IP, 12 H, 12 ER). He was originally a 2004 14th round pick of the Red Sox and reached the big leagues with Philadelphia in 2008 after stints in the Independent Northern and Atlantic Leagues.

If you are left-hander Rich Rundles - who is at Columbus - you have to believe your days on the 40-man and in this organization are numbered.
