The 2014 Minor League Baseball season has officially arrived with Indians minor league pitchers and catchers officially reporting today for spring training. Some players have already reported for "early camp" which started last Tuesday.

Pitchers and catchers will have their physicals on Tuesday and their first workout will be on Wednesday. Minor league position players will report on Friday, have their physicals on Saturday, and then the first full squad workout will be next Monday. The first minor league spring training game is on Friday March 14th. To see the full minor league game schedule go here.

A few IBI writers will be out and about at the complex starting this weekend and we will begin providing some updates and stories on what is happening out in Arizona. I myself will be out there later this month, though had to delay and shorten my trip due to a family emergency in December which forced us to postpone a family trip scheduled after Christman to the middle of this month. Once I return from that trip I will be going directly to Arizona.

Expect lots of news and updates over the next month on how players are doing, updates on player releases, minor league spring game recaps and much more. Also, as the IBI Top 50 countdown concludes, there will be many more rankings and prospect profiles to come as I will be ranking the prospects at each position and providing many reports on players beyond the Top 50. And for the first time I will be posting my Top 15 Indians International prospects listing.

While I am here, I should note that there will in fact be a new 2014 IBI book. Earlier in the offseason I had decided against doing it this year, but made a last minute decision to put one together so be on the lookout for that near the end of the month (better late than never).

Follow Tony and the Indians Baseball Insider on Twitter @TonyIBI. Also, his new book the 2014 Cleveland Indians Baseball Insider which profiles the Indians' Top 100 Prospects and more is available for sale.

About 15-25 players will be released by the end of the month. It's a tough time and one I always hate.

Thanks Richard and Shawn! Like I said, better late than never! I should hopefully have more concrete details on it in the middle of the month.

Man, those are the biggest dolphins I've ever seen. Or are they sharks?
