Tribe Madness: The Championship Game
Our IBI Tribe Madness tournament wraps up with the championsip game matchup between Addie Joss and Luis Tiant.
Both were #2 seeds in the tournament, but their consistency and high point totals led them through the minefield of six rounds to get to this final matchup. Since both pitchers are the #1 pitchers on their teams for this round they are matched up against one another in each game they pitch, and the results from each game are listed below.
For an overview of how the tournament works, go here. It is important to note that the results from this tournament or each matchup has nothing to do with how the players performed over their careers. It is based on how they performed in the best year of their career. So, it is important to note that the Joss vs. Tiant matchup is based on Joss's 1908 season when he went 24-11 with a 1.16 ERA and 208 ERA+ (both led the league) and Tiant's 1968 season when he went 21-9 with a 1.60 ERA and 186 ERA+ (both led the league).
