Saturday night in Altoona, the Akron Aeros stole the game from the Curve off a home run by third basemen Giovanny Urshela. Trailing 5-4 in the top of the ninth, Urshela's shot led the Aeros to a 6-5 victory over the Altoona Curve.

Despite the home run, the bottom of the ninth inning was no breeze for the Aeros. Refusing to give up, the Curve put pressure on the Aeros and hit a leadoff single off closer Trey Haley. Haley intentionally walked the next batter, Adalberto Santos, to put runners on first and second with no outs.

With the pressure on, Haley managed to get the next batter to hit a routine ground ball. The play didn't turn out so “routine” as a runner was called out for runners interference as well as the runner going to first was out. The not-so textbook double play was the break the Aeros defense needed to get out of the game on top.

Getting the win for the Aeros was reliever Jose Flores (7-2) who pitched the eighth inning and gave up no runs. The win also ended the Aeros five game losing streak.

Doing damage at the plate for the Aeros was Jesus Aguilar, Jose Ramirez, and Chris Wallace, who brought in the other four runs. Facing off against Altoona lefty Nate Baker, Jesus Aguilar hit a solo home run in the second inning as well as drove in a run off a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Ramierz and Wallace each had one RBI.

The Aeros (54-59) face the Curve (53-58) in the last game of the series Sunday night at 6 in Altoona. RHP Toru Murata is expected to take the mound for Akron against Curve righty Nick Kingham.
