The Captains returned home Saturday night to take on the Bowling Green Hot Rods, and grabbed a 6-5 victory to start their three game home series.

The Captains started early with Jorge Martinez slamming a homer to left field, bringing home the first three runs to give the Captains the early 3-0 lead.
The Hot Rods came back with one run in the top of the third, but the Captains answered with two more off an error from Bowling Green's third basemen, giving Lake County the 5-1 lead going into the fourth.
The Hot Rods attempted to make a comeback, scoring a second run in the top of the fourth, and tacking on three more in the top of the fifth to tie up the game at 5-5 going into the bottom of the seventh.
Logan Vick broke the tie by slamming a homer to center field to start off the bottom of the seventh and grab the 6-5 lead for the Captains.
Ryan Merritt started for the Captains, pitching three innings and allowed five hits, one run and struck out four. Luis Morel came in and relieved Merritt and pitched four innings and allowed five hits, four runs, walked two and struck out five. Jack Wagoner came in to close, and finished with one hit and two strikeouts.
Stone Speer started for the Hot Rods and pitched just two and a third innings and allowed five hits, five runs and walked five. Austin Pruitt came in for Speer and pitched four innings and allowed one hit, one run, walked one and struck out three. Marcus Jensen came in for Pruitt to finish the game, and he ended the night with two walks and one strikeout.
The Hot Rods and the Captains continue their three game series at 1:30pm on Sunday at Classic Park.
