Gimenez Is Starting To Catch On
When you want to sit down and talk baseball, you talk to Chris Gimenez. When you want to talk about catching, he's your guy as well. In fact, if you want to talk about anything, go find him and he'd likely sit down and talk with you for hours.
That's just who Gimenez is, a conversationalist with an upbeat and engaging personality. Over the years the 6'2" 200-pound catcher has started to make...

Congrats to first baseman Michael Aubrey on his callup to Cleveland tonight. Aubrey will be in uniform with the Indians today (Saturday) and is making his big league debut. As noted in my Minor Happenings piece yesterday, I was told late last week he was on the verge of a callup and that it could happen anyday. Indians officials had seem him in action at Buffalo and were fired up with what they saw....

Lofgren's Season Is On The Rebound
It would be an understatement to say Indians left-handed prospect Chuck Lofgren got off to a slow start year.
Lofgren was a 4th round pick out of high school in the 2004 Draft. Rated as the #2 prospect in the Indians organization by Baseball America, and #5 in my Top 50 List, the poor numbers for Lofgren early in the season in April were disappointing. For the month of April, in five starts...

AKRON, OH – Trenton bats roughed up Akron pitching and Thunder starter Chase Wright diced through the home team’s lineup as the Aeros fell 12-1 in front of 5,196 fans at Canal Park Friday. The Aeros drop to 15-19 on the season and the Thunder moved to 24-12.
Trenton nabbed the first tally of the game in the first inning and never looked back. Aeros...

I've been under the weather the last two days with a bad case of the flu that is going around, so most likely Minor Happenings will not post later today. In the event it does not, I have a piece on Chuck Lofgren I will be posting instead and then Minor Happenings should post on Friday.

Lofgren Outstanding, but Aeros Fall 3-1
AKRON, OH – Chuck Lofgren held Altoona at bay for seven innings, but the offense couldn’t get him any run support in a 3-1 defeat before 3,782 fans at Canal Park Tuesday. The Curve and Aeros are both 13-18.
Lofgren began the year 0-2 with an 8.24 ERA in five starts in April, but after examining video from 2006 (the year he won 17 games for...

BOWIE, MD – Wes Hodges homered and drove in four Akron runs but a ninth inning rally fell just short as Bowie triumphed 8-5 before 3,619 fans at Prince George’s Stadium Sunday afternoon. The Baysox improved to 17-13 while the Aeros slipped to 12-17.
The Aeros were quickly down 2-0 in the contest, but Wes Hodges changed that, giving the Aeros a...

As predicted, Akron made a roster move activating OF Stephen Head from the disabled list. Head takes the roster spot of IF Michael Aubrey, who was promoted to Class AA Buffalo on Friday. Head opened the season in extended spring training while recovering from surgery on his right (non-throwing) labrum, and joined the Aeros April 10th. He appeared in five games and hit .357 (5-14) with three RBI and...

First baseman Jordan Brown was put on the disabled list with a left knee injury and first baseman Michael Aubrey has been promoted to Buffalo. At this time, no word on who will be replacing Aubrey in Akron, although there is a strong possibility it could be outfielder Stephen Head coming off the disabled list.
