The Indians received four new high level prospects for Sabathia, of which at this time three of them are known. Outfielder/first baseman Matt LaPorta was the headliner of the trade and is off to a good start...

Crowe Looking To Be Leading Man
With every home run that Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore hits, the outcry for his move down into the middle of the order to become more of a run producer becomes louder. Sizemore is one of the best leadoff hitters in the game with the ability to get on-base as well as showcase a productive, powerful bat. So, if or when the Indians ever decide to slide him out of the leadoff spot, a very capable replacement...

Matt McBride went 9 innings behind the plate on MOnday, but was taken out in the 10th inning when the game went into extra innings. With him now going nine innings and showing he can play a whole game, the final hurdle for him will be to show he can handle it everyday. McBride, if he has no setbacks, should be moved up to Lake County or Kinston by the end of the week. In the game he went 2-for-4 with...

Toregas Is In The Zone
Indians catching prospect Wyatt Toregas is "in the zone". You know, when the ball looks like a beach ball and everything they hit is right on the screws and finds a line, a gap, or goes over the fence for a home run. Akron fans saw this happen for about a month with outfielder Trevor Crowe, and for the last three weeks it looks like the baton has been passed onto Toregas.
"Yeah, this is probably...

OF Matt LaPorta hit his first home run on Friday night as a member of the Cleveland Indians organization. A clutch one at that.....two outs in the 9th and down a run with a runner on third, and he blasted a home run way out to left.
Catcher Matt McBride made his way behind the plate for the first time today in GCL action. He caught five innings and then was relieved. He is very close to being...

Minor Happenings: LaPorta Brings Thunder With His Bat
A little different setup this week with Minor Happenings. With the big trade over the weekend that consummated between the Indians and Brewers, and all the information coming out of it, I felt it best to do a special edition of Minor Happenings focusing just on the trade. The regular version recapping the news and notes from the previous week will actually post on Friday this week.
I was in...
