The bats were as scorching hot as the Arizona sun Saturday in Peoria as the Indians and Mariners combined for 15 runs off 34 hits with the Tribe doubling up Seattle 10-5. Scott Kazmir struggled for the first time in Cactus League play this spring, but isn’t expected to lose much ground in the race for the fifth starting rotation spot, which is expected to be decided between him and Carlos Carrasco this week.

The Indians announced their first cuts from minor league camp today, releasing nine players. While none of the released players came as a shock, it is still a hard day, as it is hard to see the end of the road for these players in the Cleveland organization.

Some players are impressive with one or two standout tools, while others impress with their all-around game. The Indians minor league complex was very busy on Friday as it was not just a camp day, but a potential cut day as well. The Indians not only had all four affiliates in action, but they had two extra B-games on the back fields so that everyone could play so that the Indians could get a "last look" at players before making some roster decisions. With the start of the regular season less than a week and a half away, it seems as if things are finally becoming clear in regard to the Cleveland Indians' 25-man roster. Things got a little crazy on Thursday at minor league camp as the Diasuke Matsuzaka circus came to town. He threw four innings for Akron and Zach McAllister threw six innings for Columbus. On Wednesday, Trevor Bauer made his last case for a rotational turn in Cleveland come April, and on Thursday was optioned to Columbus. Carrasco made his last case for a rotational turn in Cleveland, but the cards are stacked against him with his suspension and injury playing a key part in the decision-making process. It wasn’t long ago that Lonnie Chisenhall was one of the true can’t-miss prospects in baseball. Armed with solid power, projectable defensive skills and a swing straight out of the movies, Chisenhall was atop many Cleveland Indians’ fans’ top prospects list. They weren’t the only ones enamored with Chisenhall. Injuries and inconsistency have plagued him some the past two seasons, and this is a big season him.

It was another busy day at the complex on Wednesday as Tony bounced back and forth between the Reds and Indians' complex to see all four Indians' affiliates in action and see a ton of players. In today's update he has some comments from the front office on the likes of Joe Sever, Tyler Booth, Tony Wolters and others, and also provides some insight into things he saw and heard about Mitch Brown, Francisco Mejia, Manuel Boscan and others, and also shares several recorded fastball velocities for pitchers that threw on Wednesday.

The Cleveland Indians reduced their spring roster today by optioning RHP Trevor Bauer, RHP Corey Kluber and LHP Scott Barnes to Columbus. They also sent LHP Giovanni Soto, a non-roster invitee, to minor league camp. The Indians Trevor Bauer took the mound on Wednesday for the Cleveland Indians in his quest to earn the fifth spot in the rotation. While Bauer hit a bit of a road block, the Indians' bullpen showcased how tough they can be. The Indians head through March Madness with a zany amount of sanity with regards to their roster. While there are a bunch of questions regarding the staff, it appears as though the 25-man roster is set heading forward. Jim Pete explores the questions surrounding the rotation, the real Ubaldo Jimenez, Kyle Lohse sightings, the last guys cut, and whether or not a long-term deal is in the cards for Jason Kipnis and Michael Brantley.

Tuesday was a camp day at Indians minor league camp which meant a short workout in the morning followed by two five innings games pitting AAA vs AA and A+ vs A. Left fielder Jorge Martinez had the big blow of the day with a towering two-run homer to right center, but several others such as Anthony Gallas, Tyler Naquin, Tony Wolters, Ronny Rodriguez, Francisco Mejia and many more had good showings.
