The Indians had a camp day on Thursday as Triple-A Columbus and Double-A Akron squared off on one field and High-A Carolina and Low-A Lake County squared off on the other. Here is the recap of how all of the Indians hitters and pitchers did on the day, with some notes on some of the performances below each game. It couldn't have been a better spring year in the City of Goodyear. The Indians offense wasted little time in their final ballgame in Arizona Thursday afternoon, jumping out to an early lead. That would be all the run support Tribe starter Corey Kluber would need, as the right-hander shutout the Diamondbacks with six innings of scoreless baseball surrendering just three hits. On Sunday we kicked off our positional rankings with a look at the first basemen and then followed it up with the second basemen on Tuesday. Today we continue on with the ranking of all of the shortstops in the Indians system, a position where the Indians are loaded with prospects at all levels. We are at the tail end of spring training as just three days of games remain on Thursday, Friday and Saturday before minor league camp officially wraps up on March 30th. The anticipation of a new season is exciting, especially as we await the assignments of players to the various affiliates on Thursday or Friday. It was final roster decision day inside the Indians locker room Wednesday. The Tribe announced that right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco has made the Opening Day 25-man roster, winning the final spot in the starting rotation. They also finalized the last few spots on the roster.

The Indians starting pitching staff will be trying to fill two significant holes left by the defections of Scott Kazmir and Ubaldo Jimenez. While Danny Salazar fills one of those spots, and some combination of Carlos Carrasco and Josh Tomlin will try to fill the other, it’s Corey Kluber who will slot behind Justin Masterson and be tasked with helping him carry the rotation.
