Lake County Captains lose rain-shortened game to Fort Wayne, 8-6
The Lake County Captains scored four runs through the first two innings before losing, 8-6, to the Fort Wayne TinCaps Wednesday. Lake County struck twice in each of the first two, but Fort Wayne bounced back to scored five runs in the third. Captains started Adam Plutko took the loss after giving up seven runs on 11 hits in four innings of work. The game ended early due to rain.

Carolina Mudcats lose to Lynchburg Hillcats, 5-3
The Carolina Mudcats fell short in a comeback attempt Wednesday, and ended up losing the game to the Lynchburg Hillcats, 5-3. Jeremy Lucas, Erik Gonzalez and Todd Hankins each had two hits, but the Hillcats finished off opportunities when it counted. Starter D.J. Brown lasted 6.2 innings, but gave up five runs on 11 hits.

Akron RubberDucks pile on 11 hits to beat Harrisburg, 4-2
The Akron RubberDucks out hit the Harrisburg Senators 11 to seven on their way to taking the win, 4-2, Wednesday. Akron's offense was paced by two-hit games from Tyler Naquin, Joe Wendle and Jordan Smith. RubberDucks started Gabriel Arias picked up his fifth win of the season after pitching seven innings of seven-hit, two-run ball. Tyler Sturdevant got the save with two no-hit innings of work.

Columbus Clippers lose, 5-4, to Rochester after leading early
The Columbus Clippers took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday, but came out with a 5-4 loss after the Rochester Red Wings walked off in the ninth. The game was delayed due to rain, but Rochester was not phased as it pulled of the comeback win. Columbus starter T.J. House tossed 5.2 four-run innings while Vinnie Pestano got the loss in relief. House has a 2.40 ERA this season.

Superfluous Synthesis: The Indians' ERA-FIP Gap
The Indians have pitched better than their team ERA suggest this season. Thanks to a defense so extreme as to be the worst in the league by a large margin, the pitching has been greatly affected and resulted in the second-largest ERA-FIP gap in the league behind only the very sad Diamondbacks. Second Thoughts Game #39: Indians 4, Blue Jays 5
The Cleveland Indians lost to the Toronto Blue Jays last night by a score of 5-4. Justin Masterson couldn’t figure out a couple batters and exited having given up 5 runs. The Indians fell behind 5-1 and in the midst of scratching back to a one-run deficit, they lost many chances to complete the comeback, but didn’t get it done. The IBI's Charlie Adams reviews the game and goes into great detail about the baserunning error that Carlos Santana made on the game's most critical play.

Mudcats Notebook: Gallas is leading the Mudcats charge
This week, the Carolina Mudcats managed a 4-3 record, with two victories against both Lynchburg and Salem. Carolina also dropped two games to the Red Sox and one to the Hillcats. Around the Farm: May 13. 2014
Akron and Carolina exploded for a lot of runs in their wins on Tuesday night while Columbus and Lake County were both shutout. The IBI's Arthus Kinney recaps the night Around the Farm and notes yet another strong hitting performance from Anthony Gallas and the trio of Bauer, von Schamann and Milbrath who have been lights out this year all struggle on the same night.

RubberDucks beat Senators, twice
Before Tuesday's game, the RubberDucks and Senators resumed play from Monday's game in the bottom of the seventh inning knotted up 3-3. Propelled by Ronny Rodriguez’s first-career grand slam, Akron scored seven-runs in the seventh to beat Harrisburg, 10-3. Righty Enosil Tejeda (2-0, 2.03) got the win, and newly promoted Rafael Martin (0-1, 81.00) was handed his first loss of the season.

Captains shutout, fall to Tincaps
The Fort Wayne Tincaps (16-21) shutout the Lake County Captains (11-27) 7-0 in the rainy, middle game of the three-game series on Tuesday evening. The game featured a 77-minute rain delay in the middle of the fourth inning. Lake County has dropped three-straight games.

Clippers shutout, fall 6-0 to Red Wings
The Rochester Red Wings (17-20) smacked four homers in five batters, and six consecutive reached base in the five-run fifth inning downing the Clippers 6-0. The contest was shortened due to rain and was called with two outs in the bottom of the sixth at Frontier Field. The Rochester win snaps an eight-game losing streak, which started in Columbus on May 5.

Mudcats pound the Hillcats, 13-5
The Carolina Mudcats torched the Lynchburg Hillcats 13-5 on Tuesday afternoon behind a season-high 13 runs. Carolina poured in seven runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win and derail the Lynchburg comeback attempt.

Carolina Mudcats lose scoring fest to Lynchburg Hillcats, 11-8
After striking in the first inning, the Carolina Mudcats gave up back-to-back four-run frames to the Lynchburg Hillcats Monday. The game ended with an 11-8 Lynchburg victory after Carolina starter Cole Sulser posted a line of 2.2 innings, eight hits and eight runs – six earned. Jerrud Sabourin led the offense with three hits, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 16-hit night from the Hillcats.
