Captains fall in extras 3-2, drop third straight
West Michigan scored a run in the top of the tenth inning to beat Lake County 3-2. In the tenth, Wynton Bernard doubled to begin the inning. A sacrifice bunt put runners on the corners and a fielder’s choice scored Bernard from third base. The Whitecaps won three out of four from Lake County. The Captains have lost three straight ballgames.

Tomlin's complete game shutout stymies Bulls 3-0
If the Cleveland Indians are still looking for a starting pitcher to fill out their rotation, Josh Tomlin (2-1, 2.06) made his case for the role on Thursday. Tomlin hurled a three hit shutout and ten strike outs as the Columbus Clippers (12-13) defeated the Durham Bulls 3-0 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Merritt, Mudcats rally to beat Blue Rocks 6-3
After falling behind early, the Carolina Mudcats fought their way back to earn a convincing 6-3 win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Thursday night. In what was a close game throughout, a clutch hit in the seventh inning from Jeremy Lucas secured the win for the Mudcats.

Second Thoughts Game #28: Indians 1, Angels 7
The Indians three hit performance against the Angels on Wednesday night was a fitting end to their West Coast trip. The team finished the game just 1-for-22 from the plate, putting an exclamation point on a six game stretch of horrors.
