They’ve been mathematically eliminated from the International League West Division as the Indianapolis Indians took home the title with ease, but there is a glimmer of hope for a wildcard spot. After fielding errors dug the Clippers into a four-run hole against the Louisville Bats, in one inning Columbus rallied scoring seven runs and collecting the win 7-4.

COLUMBUS- The Clippers shut out the Louisville Bats Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field, 3-0. A strong start by Josh Tomlin and teh Columbus bullpen kept the Bats off the board while the Clippers offense gradually added to their lead.

The Clippers took an early jump on the Louisville Bats, but were overtaken by the Bat’s late in Columbus’ starters outing. Columbus Ultimately fell to the Bat’s in their first game of the series, 2-1.

The Clippers escaped a second extended game Sunday afternoon against the Gwinnett Braves winning 2-1. Columbus was able to showcase their bullpen late in the game, giving their offense a chance to take the win late in the eleventh.

Even though Danny Salazar has come up to the major leagues and gotten results, the organization has not done the best job of developing starting pitching in recent years. There are a few pitchers making waves now, but long-term success will rely on more than one or two arms. After a bad inning from Josh Tomlin ruined an otherwise brilliant first rehab appearance in Columbus, a good inning for the Clippers' bats won them the game over the Gwinnett Braves by a final score of 11-4.

The Indians announced on Tuesday morning that Triple-A Columbus right-handed pitcher Diasuke Matsuzaka requested and was granted his release from his minor league contract with the Indians. He is now a free agent.

The Norfolk Tides defeated the Columbus Clippers Monday night, 7-2. The Tides offense took advantage of an off inning by starting pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, while the Orioles young prospect kept the Clippers’ bats silent.
