The doubleheader between the Lake County Captains (1-4) and the Great Lakes Loons (2-3) scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled due to inclement weather and poor field conditions. The two games are being rescheduled for the weekend of Friday April 19th when the Captains return to Dow Diamond for another three game series.

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Columbus Clippers got shutout for the second time in the last three nights Tuesday as the team fell 4-0 to the Louisville Bats. The Clippers only registered five hits in the contest, and the loss brings the series to a 1-1 split with the final game tomorrow.

The Columbus Clippers won their third game of the season on Monday night, beating the Louisville Bats 7-2. Louisville and Columbus starters Daniel Corcino and David Huff started their evening with three innings of shutout baseball. The fourth inning was one that both of these pitchers would like to forget. The Clippers and Bats finally came alive offensively, combining for seven runs.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The chance of a series sweep fell short for the Columbus Clippers Saturday as they came up with their first loss of the season, losing 5-3 to the Indianapolis Indians. The much anticipated start of Daisuke Matsuzaka lived up to hype for the first four innings, but it shortly fell off after.

After a low-scoring outing in their 2013 debut, the Clippers’ bats came alive in Indianapolis in game two of their series against the Indianapolis Indians. Indians’ center fielder Alex Presley and shortstop Jordy Mercer started off the game with back to back doubles, giving Indianapolis a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

The Columbus Clippers started off their season on a high note, defeating the Indianapolis Indians 4-0 on opening day. After struggling to find any kind of offense through the first seven innings, the Clippers’ bats finally came alive in the top of the eighth when designated hitter Jeremy Hermida launched a 1-0 pitch over the right field wall for a grand slam.

After winning back-to-back Triple-A National Championships in 2010 and 2011, the Columbus Clippers failed to make the playoffs in 2012, finishing second in the International West Division with a 75-69 record. This season, under the leadership of first-year manager Chris Tremie, the Clippers will look to get back to their championship caliber selves. Spring training wrapped up for the Indians on Saturday. Not only has the big league team broken camp and are on their way to Toronto for their opening day series which gets started on Tuesday, but about 100 minor leaguers are also in transit to Columbus, Akron, Zebulon and Eastlake to begin their minor league seasons which kick off on Thursday next week. Cord Phelps ended the 2012 season as a member of the Cleveland Indians roster. While he played well down the stretch, there are no guarantees that he'll be a member of the team come April. It's been an up-and-down road for Phelps and his baseball career as he's dominated the minors but struggled in the Majors. The Indians lost a long time member of their minor league system today as free agent third baseman/outfielder Jared Goedert agreed to a minor league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, over the past few days they have added two players as they signed free agent infielder Luis Hernandez and resigned right-handed pitcher Hector Rondon, both to minor league deals.
